York City Centre
Clifford's Tower

It’s the stunning view you get of the historic city of York that makes Clifford’s Tower one of the most popular attractions in Yorkshire. Set on a tall mound in the heart of Old York, this imposing tower is almost all that remains of York Castle, which was originally built by William the Conqueror.

Shopping, Restaurants & Cafés

York has many excellent shops and boutiques which are unique to York. When shopping in York try not to get too lost in the old medieval streets! Shopping in York can be thirsty work, but don't worry we have many small independent coffee shops and tea rooms such as Betty's, as well as larger names such as Cafe Rouge and Starbucks for a drink or bite to eat.

York Minster Cathedral

One of the largest Gothic Cathedrals in the world and one of the most beautiful cathedrals in England. York Minster has dominated the York skyline for hundreds of years. See the famous stained glass windows, the Rose Window, Ceiling Bosses and Undercroft. If your feeling fit, you can walk up a narrow spiral staircase of hundreds of steps to the top, to be rewarded by stunning views of the rooftops of York.
